Your eyes are central to your overall facial appearance, and heavy, sagging lids can give you a tired, sad appearance. For a more rested, youthful look, you may elect to have Eye Lift surgery. This procedure can be performed alone or in conjunction with other facial cosmetic surgery.
An Eye Lift (Blepharoplasty) removes fat, skin, and muscle from the upper and lower eyelids to correct drooping and puffy bags. While this procedure will tighten loose skin, it won't remove all wrinkles, eliminate dark circles, or lift sagging eyebrows.

This outpatient procedure involves making incisions along the natural crease of the eyelid and just below lashes in lower lids. The skin is separated from underlying fatty tissue and muscle, and excess fat and skin are removed. The incisions are closed with sutures. The eyes are lubricated with ointment, and a soothing eye mask is applied. |

Facial surgery may improve a person's self-image by correcting minor imperfections or by rejuvenating a tired appearance resulting from long-term sun exposure or the aging process. To feel your best, you should follow a regimen of proper nutrition, skin care and exercise after the procedure. We encourage patients to adhere to the following guidelines in order to feel good inside and out.
-
Cool compresses may be used to control swelling and bruising as it peaks during the first two days.
-
The day after surgery, you may wash your face with a mild soap, being careful not to pull on the eyelid skin.
-
Makeup can be worn on the face following surgery, and eye makeup may be worn after stitches are removed.
-
Smiling, yawning and pulling on eyelids should be avoided for a week, and strenuous physical activity should be avoided until the third or fourth week.
-
Some people experience dryness, which eye drops or lubricants can help, while others experience excessive tearing, which should resolve in several days.
-
Stitches are removed in five days, and most patients feel comfortable going out in public within five to seven days.
-
Contact lenses should not be worn for two weeks.
-
Eyes will be sensitive to sunlight, wind, and other irritants for several weeks. It is a good idea to wear sunglasses to protect your eyes and help prevent wrinkles caused by squinting.

Eye Lift:
A Refreshing Change
For most of us, aging is a fact of life. As we grow older, the effects of aging become more and more apparent. One of the most obvious places we age is around our eyes. The skin surrounding the eyes is one of the most sensitive parts of the body and is usually the first to show signs of aging. So, while many of us remain young at heart, our eyes may sometimes cause us to look older beyond our years. Bags or wrinkled skin folds over the eyelids, signaling the aging process, can be altered to give you a fresher, younger appearance....
